Flexi League 3 rolled into Leicester and it did not disappoint.
Yes, it was the turn of Leicester to host the latest round of the Midland Flexi League, with an impressive 32 riders lining up for their fix of Cycle Speedway action.
Despite a classic dose of April showers, nothing could dampen the spirits, as riders delivered competitive,
action-packed racing all day long.
With two race formats in play, everyone had the chance to get involved and the score sheets showed just how close and exciting it was.  A special thank you to Leicester for hosting a fantastic event, and to referee Matt Wilcockson and pits marshall Kevin Turley for keeping things running smoothly.
It was great to see so many riders enjoying a brilliant day of racing, looking forward to the next round which is at East Park on Sunday 12th July 2026.

Flexi League Round 2 - Sunday 29th March 2026
Round 2 of the Flexi League took place at the beautiful East Park circuit. A total of 31 riders signed on, all ready for their fix of cycle speedway. With the appropriate formulas selected, an exciting afternoon of racing got underway.
In the Senior formula, competition was tight throughout. Scott Millward and Mark Whitehead were top scorers for their team, with every point proving crucial as victory was secured by just a single point.
In the second formula, 19 juniors took to the track, delivering some outstanding performances. Standout riders included Carson East and Navaeh Draisy, both of whom completed all of their rides unbeaten.
A big well done to all the volunteers who helped make the event run smoothly, and to match referee Bob Prince for overseeing the day’s racing.
Overall, it was another fantastic day of cycle speedway.

Flexi League Round 1 - Sunday 22nd March 2026
Today saw the first of 10 “Flexi League” competitions hosted by the Midland League clubs. These events are designed to give riders the opportunity to simply turn up and enjoy competitive racing, while Midland League riders also collect points for their clubs.
The league is open to all riders, with the aim of providing close, competitive racing throughout the series.
A turnout of 26 riders meant two formulas were used to ensure everyone got plenty of racing. Norman Venson top scored in one group, while Callum Szymanski and Owen Craik both delivered a superb maximum in the other.
All in all, a great day’s racing enjoyed in the sunshine!

The Dash ... When the season starts - Sunday 15th March 2026
The Dash never disappoints – and this year was no exception. With riders setting personal targets and the main challenge being 10 rides around the Ashmore Park circuit, the day delivered win after win both on and off the track.
One of the biggest victories? The cycle speedway community coming together to kick off a brand new season. Even the classic March weather couldn’t dampen spirits – there was a real buzz around the track all day.

👏 A huge thank you to everyone who made the event happen.
Special thanks go to referees Bob Prince and Matt Wilcockson, with Bob officiating the mammoth main event of 80+ heats and re-runs in true UK conditions.
🎤 Thanks also to announcers Matt Parr, showing his skills on the mic, alongside resident voice Wayne Aris.
🔧 Credit to Pits Marshal Kev Turley, managing 32 riders in one pit area – no easy task!
And of course, the Wednesfield team, who once again delivered everything from track preparation to canteen support.
🏁 The Racing
The main event kicked off with two semi-finals, with the top 16 progressing to the final and the remaining riders heading into the consolation final.
Next up were the U14s, with 28 heats of junior racing providing plenty of excitement.
🔥 Kalem Martin (Newport) stormed through the card unbeaten to take the prestigious title.
🥈 Carson East (Coventry) finished second.
🥉 Third place went to Sam Comben (Southampton) after a run-off with Caiden Rawlings (Kesgrave).
The mini junior event also produced great racing, with local rider Hunter (Wednesfield) winning the A Final.
🌧️ Finals Time
As the finals began, the rain arrived – but the track stayed fast and grippy, keeping the action coming thick and fast.
In the Consolation Final, it was a tight battle between Zak White (Birmingham) and Jude Wilcockson (Coventry), with Finlay Myall (Ipswich) quietly working his way up the scoresheet.
🏆 Zak White remained unbeaten to take the win.
🥈 Jude Wilcockson finished second.
🥉 Finlay Myall secured third after a run-off with Tom Alexander.
👑 The Main Event
The final featured a stacked field including regional, national, European and World champions. With just one ride remaining for riders, eight riders were still in podium contention.
Heat 18 saw the two front runners clash, with Kenzie Bennett taking the crucial win and Ben Mould finishing second – leaving both riders tied on 18 points and forcing a run-off for the title.
All eyes then turned to Heat 20, where Ed Morton needed a win to secure third outright. He delivered under pressure, taking the victory and locking in his podium place.
That left one final race – the run-off for the title.
From grid two, Kenzie Bennett made it count, holding off Ben Mould to claim the win and crown a fantastic day of racing.
🏁 Over 100 races. Non-stop action. A brilliant start to the season at the Wednesfield Aces circuit.

Midland Individual Championship 2024
Slater Street Leicester was the location for the Midland Individual Championships on Sunday 18th August.
On a superbly prepared surface the meeting kicked off with the U12s & U14s combined to produce 10 heats of brilliant raw cycle speedway.  The eventual winner of both events was Carson East who went through the meeting unbeaten.  Nyla Aris 2nd & Mason Hoyland 3rd completed the U12s rostrum, with Callum Szymanski 2nd & Hattie Hughes 3rd in the U14s.
Next up were the O40 vets.  Lee Aris seemed the likely winner after he beat the home favourite Mark Whitehead but a superb pass by Kev Burns to demote Aris to third with Nicky Whitehead winning a later race left things finely balanced.  Mark duly won his last race to take the title.  A run off was needed for 2nd.  Aris made no mistake this time against Burns.
The ladies turn now and a mixture of experience and youth made up the field nevertheless the formula threw up some interesting battles to keep the crowds enthusiasm.  Birmingham's Rebekah Humphries eventually triumphed over Lucy Whitehead, Michelle Whitehead and Georgia Burt.
The last meeting of the day was the open.  The big hitters flexed there muscles to do battle but it was five lightning starts from Chris Timms who was never headed out of the first bend to take the title.  One race of note was Timms on grid 1, Heard on 2, Jewkes on 3 & Aris on 4.  Lee got the better of CJ to finish 3rd and that was the rostrum.  Special mention for Luke Draisey beaten only by the top 3 and Tom Berwick for some entertaining racing from the back.
